Are you excited for Punkin' Chunkin' 2017?!

I'm reaching out to you because it seems you were previously involved in
the competition. As I'm new to the event (Hello, my name is Karyn and
I'm the new Education Director at Science Factory), I'm relying on YOU
to help make this event better than ever.

In planning the event so far, we have booked the Most Wanted Espresso
food truck to be on site, and the Eugene Public Library Maker Hub and
Science Factory Educators will be entertaining guests from 10am to noon
while the competitors set up. This year, it looks like we may have up to
1,000 spectators interested in cheering on our Punkin Chunkin
Competitors (based on facebook interest).

However, we are still in need of teams (or ambitious individuals) to
compete and show off their engineering talents! If you are interested
but not quite ready to register, please let me know so I at least have
an idea of who to expect. Also, PLEASE SHARE with your friends and
fellow makers. We definitely want to en

Howdy Folks,

I just heard from Jeff over at the Science Factory that the social media
sites for this event are just going crazy. According to the page hits
they are expecting about 500 to 1000 folks in the audience, which is way
more than ever before. Unfortunately almost no-one has signed up to
compete, darn! :-( I know in past years there were teams from other
groups than EMS, but a few did come from our neck of the woods. :-) It
would sure be nice if that huge audience had an exciting contest to
watch. ;-)

Ciao,
Clif

By the way,

Karyn from the Science Factory would like to know if there are any
unused launchers out there that could be loaned to a high school to
enter. :-)

and see if they want to work with a pre-made machine that they can use
as-is or modify and join the competition.

Not comfortable lending our launcher to a high school to compete, much too
dangerous for a bunch of kids to operate unsupervised. I am comfortable
loaning it to you if you want to lead the high schoolers.

Yes I figured as much, and was not asking about your launcher in that
email. I've started to pull together a team for it. We'll see how far I
get. :-)

Thanks,
Clif

Did that rig we talked about come through? If so, we should spend a few
hours or more getting to know it, and it's capabilities. What do you think?

Thanks for checking in,
