I know tempers have been running a bit hot the last few days, so I just
wanted to take a moment here to make a statement as a candidate for the BOD.

In the event that I am not elected to the board, I *WILL* continue to
participate both as a user of the space, and as a member of the community.
I will continue to bring my ideas and suggestions forward, and try and help
wherever I can.

I strongly believe that as a community, we can work together to make EMS a
positive, cooperative space and community.. and while we're not always
going to agree on how to do that, I think we have a lot of opportunities
for improvement and growth. As members of a community, I think we have a
responsibility to try to work to make things better, rather than just
walking away.

So, regardless of how this all turns out, I just wanted to say.. I'm gonna
stick it out, and I'll keep trying to make EMS better and better.

Anyone with me?

I am with you Karen.

" 110% "

If I am elected, or if I am not, I plan on strongly suggesting to the BoD
for the immediate elimination of the mail listserve. If people need to
communicate one on one or in small groups they can actualize this desire
the old fashioned way. Trade email addresses or phone numbers in person.
Post something to the real physical bulletin board. The discuss list is
not a pulpit upon which to prognosticate to the masses. I too am leaving
this list now. People who I wish to communicate with already have my
contact details.

Removing the list and reducing public communication hardly seems like
an effective way to make the space more accepting to people and
people's contributions. All that does is move the exact same bullying
into the shadows.

We need real action with a Code of Conduct and a dispute resolution
process, not to just hide in the shadows and have less community.

Paris - just to be clear: one of the main reasons I left is because of you
and your highjacking the email list Serv constantly. I would prefer a
moderated and only for members board that allows users to communicate to
other members but not the community at Large with these issues.
